Ball Joints

Selby Ball Joints are an encapsulated design (completely sealed unit) and are maintenance free with a smoother feel during articulation.

All Selby’s ball joints are manufactured to equal or exceed OEM specifications.
The plastic seat within the ball joint is made from a unique material with a smooth designed as to the ball pin is a mirror finished surface for better wear characteristics and smooth operation.

Dust covers on the ball joint minimise the amount of dust, foreign bodies and moisture entering the ball joint which greatly improves the life span.
Selby uses a special grease formula which helps to avoid corrosion and increase durability.

Control Arms

Control arms, also known as an A-arm, is a hinged suspension link between the chassis and the suspension upright or hub that carries the wheel. The control arm is responsible for allowing for independent vertical travel of the wheels.

• Selby control arm range includes high quality ball joints or bushings where required

• Selby is constantly developing new “in demand” numbers and regularly adding them to the forever growing range for both upper and lower applications.

• Selby range covers both upper and lower applications

Tie Rod Ends

Tie rod ends are a flexible coupling in the steering linkage that connects the tie rods to the steering knuckles. Common signs of a faulty tie rod end include a front end alignment that is off, a shaky or loose steering wheel, and uneven or excessive tyre wear.

Majority of Selby passenger vehicle tie rod ends are encapsulated - meaning there is no need to service/grease them for their lifetime. You still are required to check the boots at regular intervals to ensure there are no rips and/or tears - and replace if necessary.

Selby also offers a range of greasable tie rod ends, particularly for 4WD applications, that require greasing on fitment, and re-greasing at regular service intervals to ensure the items remain adequately lubricated.

Sway Bar Links

A sway or stabilizer bar prevents the car body from leaning too much and keeps the vehicle stable when driving in turns. A sway bar is connected via rubber bushings to the car body or frame in the middle. Outer ends of the sway bar are connected to the parts of the vehicle suspension that holds the wheel (struts or control arms).

The part that connects the outer ends of the sway bar to the suspension component is called a sway bar link. In most cars a sway bar link has two small ball joints at each end.

Over time, the sway bar link ball joints wear out. The first sign of a worn out sway bar link is a knocking noise from the suspension when driving slow over road bumps, increased and uneven tyre wear, and may impair handling characteristics. An extremely worn out sway bar link can separate.
